Wie alle gescheiterten Bandmitglieder unternahm auch John den Versuch zu einer Solokarriere. Seine ersten zwei LPs waren noch sehr ansprechend, da ausschliesslich Liebesgestammel mit seiner japanischen Frau, Aufnahmen von quietschenden Strassenbahnschienen, atmosphärische Störungen und andere erbauliche Geräusche zu hören sind. In späteren Jahren begann er dann sogar zu singen.
